You all have spoken, and it's official: The DJ Shadow Remix Project CD is go!
We will GIVE AWAY THE CD with ANY physical order placed at the DJShadow.com store once the CD is released (most likely sometime in April).

Shadow's going to be listening to your submissions between now and March 31, 2010, so you have just over a month to submit your best work. Think you can do better than what has been chosen so far? Then GET YOUR REMIX IN, so everyone else can experience your production skills!

Here's a few tips for increasing your chances of getting selected:
1) Look beyond the obvious. Everyone loves Organ Donor and Six Days, but we've already got several dope remixes of those tracks. How about something else?
2) Mega-mixes are great, but the bar has been set pretty high by other participants; bear that in mind before you begin!
3) Listen to the other entries...what HASN'T been done yet? We want the CD to be as stylistically varied as possible, so push the envelope for something new!
Also bear in mind that not every mix selected as a semi-finalist can make it on the CD...it will come down to what works and flows best as a grouping. In addition, if your work has been selected as a semi-finalist, you can always RESUBMIT an updated version of your mix, if you feel you could do better or if there's anything you wanted to change.

Important: in addition to the music, WE NEED COVER ART. Yep, YOU are going to design the cover art. The official title of the project is "The DJ Shadow Remix Project," and the title must be prominent on the front cover; the back cover should have space for the track listing, although it is not mandatory.

Here's a few tips for increasing your chances of success:
1) Try to avoid cliched imagery, namely: headphones, needles, waveforms, etc.
2) Avoid incorporating images of Shadow...chances are, if you had access to the image, we've all seen it before.
3) "Sampling" other images is fine, but it's not a substitute for genuine design...as in music, if you're going to borrow, make it your own.

Once we've received everything, Shadow will choose the cover and the track listing. If any of your work is selected, we'll contact you to obtain the highest quality files available, as well as your desired credit. Everyone represented on the CD will receive 5 free copies, including one signed by Shadow.
